Mr. Tilghman

Hello! My name is Mr. Tilghman. I currently teach 5th grade ELA at Dabney Elementary School. I have twenty-four years of teaching experience in elementary education. I received my B.A. in English from Longwood University in the year 2000, and a minor degree in Ancient history. It is my belief that as a teacher I should teach students not what to think, but "how" to think critically, while learning to show empathy and sympathy for others.

I am in my 11th year at Dabney Elementary, where I began as a student intern and have loved serving ever since. I hold a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and will graduate in May 2026 with a Master’s in School Administration. My faith guides me in building strong relationships with students and families, and I believe every child deserves a champion to help them thrive.
